The EURCo-Biofuel project is a Coordination and Support action aimed at identification of the potential co-operation opportunities for Russia concerning the dissemination, transfer and exploitation of the results of EC environmental - as well as biofuel promotion activities and the support of international cooperation. The project will take place in the form of regional seminars organised in Siberia, in the Russian Scientific Centre Novosibirsk and in Altai Krai. The multi-national and multi-disciplinary EU-Russian team will contribute to bioenergy development with stakeholders from industry, government and NGOs.

The aim of this project activity is the harmonisation of policy and the activities on biofuel promotion in collaboration of EU countries and Russia by supporting Russian infrastructures in this field.

The Potential Impact of EURCo-Biofuel is important for the region as the project will contribute to:

· overcome barriers for the uptake of EU initiatives and programmes on biofuel promotion  enabling of open and interactive discussion of issues relating to biofuel challenges in Russia;

· inform and support institutional recognition of the potential environmental benefits of biofuel.
